A cheeky mid-week 3 day hike starting from 8 Mile Flat, heading up the Howqua River, up Helicopter Spur, over The Bluff, Rocky Spur and finally down 8 Mile Spur.
I had hoped to get out for a few adventures in the snow this winter, particularly some overnighters, but time sped by and I only managed one day learning to cross-country ski at Lake Mountain (with great snow) and an overnight snowshoe trip to Mt Stirling (with rapidly melting slushy snow).
I’d known about Lerderderg Gorge for a few year but always assumed it would be a fairly wretched place. Anyway, I finally went there for a day walk recently and it was great! A beautiful river, steep climbs, rugged rocky country and great views. And a pretty interesting weir. I think it might be pretty horrible in hot weather though. It does have a reputation for being somewhat of a snake pit.
A weekend away in the Otways and Great Ocean Road. Part holiday, partly to shoot things for my upcoming exhibition (!). We saw a hell of a lot of really beautiful trees. Mountain ash forest is stunning, and perfect for the style of photos I’m doing for my exhibition (more on that soon perhaps). We also checked out a small plantation of Californian redwoods, planted in 1938. Oh, and I couldn’t resist a couple of slightly cheesy photos of beautiful reflections, one near Lake Elizabeth and one at Lorne in dramatic afternoon light.
